His security detail leaked his location and itinerary to a Moroccan criminal gang
Netherlands Freedom Party Leader Geert Wilders has suspended public campaigning ahead of the March 15 general election.
A series of leaks from his police security team to a “Dutch-Moroccan criminal gang” have been discovered, resulting in several arrests. One of the arrested police officers was of Moroccan origin.
The anti-migrant Wilders has repeatedly called Morrocan migrants “scum.” His far-right campaign has also promised to close all Dutch mosques.
WILDERS, LIKE HIS HERO DONALD TRUMP, COMMUNICATES TO HIS FOLLOWERS MAINLY VIA TWITTER:
Vreselijk. Dit waren mijn directe persoonsbeveiligers die tot in mijn safehouse kwamen. Dit is heel erg eng. https://t.co/h1a7WUpV8N
— Geert Wilders (@geertwilderspvv) February 24, 2017
[Translation: “Horrible. These used to be my direct bodyguards, who would enter my safehouse. This is very, very scary.”]
The Moroccan-Dutch officer involved in the leak, referred to only as Faris K., was indicted in 2005 for leaking information and was convicted of violating the official secrets.
He was sentenced to perform a term of community service, but the sentence was suspended and he was allowed to continue working as a police officer. In 2007, his brother, Mohammed K., was also fired from the police for violating the official secrets act.
