“General Kelly is a great American and a great Leader,” Trump announced on Twitter.

Kelly earned the respect of the president as the head of his Department of Homeland Security.

“John has done a spectacular job at Homeland Security,” Trump tweeted. “He has been a true star of my administration.”

The stunning announcement comes just two days after White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci denounced Priebus in an expletive-filled phone conversation with the New Yorker magazine.
