Donald Trump interview from 1999 sets the scene for the Singapore success story.
New York real estate tycoon and masterful deal maker, who was famously known as The Donald, said this:
“We have a country out there, North Korea, which is not a bunch of dummies. They are going out and developing nuclear weapons. And they’re not doing it because they’re having fun doing it. Wouldn’t it be good to sit down and really negotiate something?”
When the interviewer cast doubt on the success of any negotiations with North Korea, the master dealmaker replied:
“If spoken to correctly — correctly — they will play ball.”
Fast forward to Singapore
President Trump showed Kim Jong-un an iPad video of a North Korea that is prosperous and modern, not unlike Miami, seen in the video with sparkling high rise condos and hotels bordering a beautiful beach.
Trump told Kim that North Korea’s ‘great beaches’ and its beneficial location between the economic powers of China and South Korea would be the catalyst for amazing development and an exciting future.
