THE BAD NEWS:
The National Football League has refused to run an American veterans TV commercial during the Super Bowl game Feb. 2 because it criticizes the league’s “taking-the-knee” protests during the playing of the national anthem.
More than 78,000 People Sign Petition Accusing NFL of ‘Hypocrisy’ Over Rejection of ‘Please Stand’ Super Bowl Ad
The same AMVETS #PleaseStand ad was accepted by the National Hockey League and Major League Baseball for their all-star games.
The $30,000 ad featured veterans saluting the flag and includes information on how to donate to the charitable organization.
“It’s a simple, polite request that represents the sentiment of our membership, particularly those whose missing or paralyzed limbs preclude standing,” AMVETS National Commander Marion Polk wrote in a letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.
NFL SAYS AD TOO POLITICAL
But NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said the Super Bowl has “never been a place for advertising that could be considered by some as a political statement.”
Is he kidding? The NFL, with its unpatriotic, anti-American kneeling during the anthem — started by former 49ers QB Kaepernick to protest oppression of black people — has been condoning a political statement all season!
And to the chagrin of millions of fans who have said the political statements by millionaire players is a travesty that’s ruining the game.
The majority of Americans agree that the NFL should not have allowed politics to rear its ugly head before the start of a game in the first place. It piss’d off patriots. And America is full of patriots. People watch football to get away from politics. Like all sports, it’s an escape from all the shit that goes on outside the stadium.
But the NFL and Commissioner Roger Goodall are too stupid to know that. And it still didn’t sink in when ticket sales and TV revenue plummeted big time, perhaps never to recover.
The bottom line: Football is dead.
THE GOOD NEWS:
The baseball season is only two months away. So hang in there, America, hope is on the way.
