ISTANBUL – Turkey’s Tayyip Erdogan and France’s Emmanuel Macron will work together to try to persuade the United States to reconsider its decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, a Turkish presidential source said on Saturday.
The two leaders agreed during a phone call that the move is worrisome for the region, the source said, adding that Turkey and France would make a joint effort to try to reverse the U.S. decision.
Erdogan also called for an urgent meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Turkey next week.
France has been a supporter of the Palestinian cause. In 2014, the French National Assembly passed a non-binding motion calling on the government to recognize Palestine, but the government has not officially done so. — New York Post

But, Bergman asks, “Did the French republic impose sharia and the subjugation of women in the suburbs, described by one female survivor as ‘hell’?”
“Was the French republic behind the recent distribution of leaflets stipulating, ‘If you meet a Jew, kill him’?”

The president and Melania attend the Bastille Day ceremony on Friday before returning to the United States.

Trump was invited by Macron in May to celebrate Bastille Day, France’s national holiday July 14 marking the 1789 storming of the Bastille, a turning point in the French Revolution. The day also commemorates the United States engagement with French troops during World War I.
