Risk of terror attacks in Britain highest since IRA bloodshed of the 1970s

British teenagers as young as 14 are being radicalized by extremist videos and hate speeches.

Islamic terrorists are planning “indiscriminate attacks on innocent civilians” on a scale of the Irish Republican Army 40 years ago, said Britain’s new anti-terrorism head, Max Hill.

“This is an enormous ongoing risk which none of us can ignore.”

The attacks will be carried out by 

hundreds of British extremists who fled to Syria and Iraq to join the Isis army and are planning to return to Britain to unleash their newfound barbarism.

RECENT TERRORIST ATTACKS IN BRITAIN

  • May 2013: British soldier Lee Rigby murdered in an attack in Woolwich by Michael Adebolajo and Michael Adebowale, two Islamist extremists armed with a handgun and a number of bladed implements. Both men were sentenced to life imprisonment.
  • December 2015: Three people stabbed at Leytonstone tube station in east London, with one person suffering severe knife injuries. The attacker kept shouting “this is for Syria” referring to the Royal Air Force’s bombing of the Islamic State in Syria.

    Jo Cox

    June 2016. Labour MP Jo Cox, 41, killed by right-wing extremist Thomas Mair who shouted “Britain First” during the attack. Cox was shot and stabbed outside the library in Birstall. Bernard Kenny, 77, was stabbed in the stomach while trying to fend off her attacker.
